Rules

How To Nominate:

  • All work must be wolf-centric. Vamp characters can be included as long as a wolf is a part of the final main pairing. All human characters are also acceptable as long as a canon wolf is a part of the final pairing.
  • Nominations in the “Manipulation” category are for photo manipulations ONLY.
  •  “Story Banner” nominations are limited to graphics designed and used specifically for a story or chapter.
  • Chapter banners are eligible as long as they follow the wolf-centric requirements described above.
  • Adoptable banners are eligible in the “Most Eligible Bachelor (Or Bachelorette!)” category and are reserved exclusively for banners made by an artist that are available for adoption.
  • Contest entries not linked to a story can be included for the “Most Festive” category. This category is open to any contest entry. Holiday themed or contest/challenge entries for story banners or manips are welcome in other categories as long as they meet the awards criteria.

Rules For Eligibility:

  • Entries containing depictions of rape, pedophilia, bestiality, incest, or extreme graphic violence are ineligible. Explicit images will be limited to the category of “Mani-porn” and must include appropriate warnings to be eligible.
  • If non-movie!verse characters are used, story links should be provided to verify the characters as being Twilight-based.
  • All art portions of the story banner must belong to the artist it is credited to. Banners created by an artist using another artists manip or background are ineligible.
    • If someone downloads GIMP or PS brushes and creates a brand new background, we would consider that as original as a manip because of the unique combination of colors, light, and shading. The artist using it should be the one who created it.
    • A texture is the tonal or gray level variation of an image, and is not the same as the background of a banner, and does not need credit for use.
    • We would not require credit for the use of brushes, font or original photos.
  • An individual graphic may be entered into only one regular category and one “All Time” category, but may be nominated in multiple regular categories as appropriate.
  • There are no time restrictions. Any graphic made by any artist in the fandom may be nominated, even if the artist or author using the banner is no longer active in the fandom.
  • Every possible effort should be made to provide a public link for a graphic. Many artists use online photo albums like PhotoBucket or flickr, blogs like Tumblr or DeviantArt, or social media like Twitter, Facebook or Google+. If a graphic is available only on a private site, a member of the Admin team must be able to access it in order to validate the nomination.
  • Each nomination must include the requested information in order to be accepted.
  • Up to three nominations will be allowed per category per entry form. IP addresses will be checked to prevent multiple nomination forms from the same individual.
  • Nominations sent before or after the entry period will not be accepted. Early entries may be resubmitted during the appropriate time frame.

Admins Reserve The Right To:

  • Based on the number of nominations received, Admins reserve the right to limit the number of nominations of a single artist in any one category in order to prevent a monopoly.
  • Based on the number of nominations received, Admins reserve the right to limit the total number of nominations in a category, and close it for the remainder of the nomination period. Entries submitted for a closed category will not be accepted.
  • Links to the images must be provided at the time of submission and Admins reserve the right to invalidate the nomination if not all information is provided.
  • Admins reserve the right to determine the eligibility of each nomination.
  • Authors or artists reserve the right to ask that their graphic be removed if submitted by an outside party.

  1. I have a question regarding this part of the rules: "All art portions of the story banner must belong to the artist it is credited to. Banners created by an artist using another artists manip are ineligible." ~ You mention manips specifically, but what about using other artists' textures? On FreeWriters and Readers, we have hundreds of base textures that our artists create for the express purpose of other artists' using them. They free from any copyright infringement and only require that we give the artist credit when using. Would nominations be allowed using these free base textures?

    1. Thanks for your question! At this time, we're inclined to say that the rule should also include textures, but we'll be willing to look at graphics on a case by case basis, depending on how the texture is used. If you have questions about a specific graphic or would like to email us with an example, we could discuss it in more detail.

We'll be clarifying the rule to state that all portions of the banner must belong to the artist nominated with the exception of font, downloadable brushes used with GIMP or PS, or any character or stock images. The graphic can not include manips or textures that were made by a different artist.

  2. I guess our artists will be sitting this one out then, because we all use base textures. *sigh*

  3. The rule was created because the goal of the awards was to recognize the work of individual artists, not their ability to use what is created by someone else. It’s not an issue of copyright.

If someone downloads GIMP or PS brushes and creates a brand new background, we would consider that as original as a manip because of the unique combination of colors, light, and shading. A texture is the tonal or gray level variation of an image, and is not the same as the background of a banner.

We would not require credit for the use of brushes, font or original photos.

Further clarification will be added to that specific rule. As previously stated, we are more than happy to make decisions on a case by case basis. No artist is preemptively disqualified based solely on their use of backgrounds, textures, or brushes. If you have any additional concerns, please contact us at occupyartstreet@gmail.com.
